Not only falling for the girl but dealing with it in stupid ways that lead to nothing but pain, especially for themselves.

And of course, they would rather ignore the problem or cause problems for someone else with the same problem then suck it up and deal with it. I'd say they're afraid of changing/bending because they're so out of their depth.

It's funny how so many of the long-lived/immortal types seem to have the same problems and use the same ignore it/run away approach to it. You'd think they'd gain some wisdom or learns some lessons, at least.
