The Master cannot completely tame Japan, cannot bring it to heel. It is not the only country which houses rebels but it is the worst offender. Traps are laid, Toclafane are sent out in droves and still they elude capture.
Half a world away, Martha Jones hears about Japan. She makes it her next stop.
She walks among the people and tells her story.
They smuggle her into Tomoeda and she meets her. Sakura.
She's young but she shines so bright, like a star, despite her grief.
"Jones-san," she greets Martha with a warm smile. "I've been expecting you."
Martha knows that she's expected everywhere, that stories of her exploits run rampant and everyone awaits the day when Martha Jones comes to tell her story.
Sakura offers her a token--a necklace, pink plastic and glitter--and Martha takes it, bemused.
Martha stares, agog, at the approach of two figures, unlike anything she's ever seen even when traveling with the Doctor. A winged and armored lion and an angel in white.
"Mistress! They are here," the angel says.
Sakura nods, her smile vanishes, her vibrant eyes are hard and determined. She makes a gesture and a long pink staff materializes in her hand. Suddenly, the childish necklace around Martha's neck takes on new significance.
"Run," Sakura tells her before dashing to meet the enemy forces head on.
Sakura wins.
The next day, Japan burns.
