agenthal asked for Jack/Rodney and while I adore the pairing I'm not too happy with what my Muse saw fit to write. It pure self-indulgence and nolittle plot.

John and Jeannie shared a speaking look behind Rodney’s back.
He and Rodney were earthside for a week for paperwork and briefings and Jeannie had flown out for the week to visit, which brought them to having dinner at a nice semi-casual restaurant.
Everything had been going well until a group had passed by their table and Rodney had followed them closely with an intense and searching gaze.
“Mer, do you know them?” Jeannie, using her nosy!sister immunity, asked.
“McKay?” John prompted.
Rodney dragged his eyes away, glancing first and Jeannie then at John. “I think we should leave.”
That scared Jeannie and put John on edge, the solemn and serious way that Rodney had delivered the request, like something important and life-threatening was going on.
“Oh, I think that’d be a shame. Unless you’d consider leaving with me,” said a flirtatious and attractive man, one from the group that Rodney had been watching. He gave them all blatant and prolonged once-overs and settled on giving John a heated smile.
Jeannie started at the unexpected interruption, John frowned at the man, and Rodney simply shook his head in that exasperated ‘working with idiots’ way.
“Your lines are still terrible, Captain,” Rodney said with a smirk and an arrogant tilt of his head.
At that the ‘Captain’ straightened and his interest shifted from John to Rodney and his stance became more overtly sexual, though it was obvious to John that flirtation had never been the game.
“You have me at a disadvantage,” The Captain said with a suggestive grin.
“Mer, aren’t you going to introduce us?” Jeannie asked sweetly.
“Captain Jack Harkness, at your service,” he said with a deceptively open grin and an offered hand.
The Captain gallantly kissed Jeannie’s hand instead of shaking it when she offered her own, leaving Jeannie wide eyed and a little pink cheeked. Which impressed John just a little, Jeannie never reacted like that when men hit on her so blatantly.
“Stop flirting with my sister, Jack. She’s married.” Rodney didn’t sound particularly angry, unlike when he’d delivered the same line to John, just…fond? Why the hell did Rodney sound affectionate towards this guy, this flirt, when he was always poking and taunting John about his own perfectly understandable, and definitely not flirtatious, manners?
“Is he cute?” Jack asked Jeannie in a low voice.
“Very,” Jeannie returned with a grin.
Rodney sighed and took out his wallet, dropping enough bills on the table to cover the tab.
“It’s time to go before he incites an orgy,” John heard Rodney mutter.
“But you haven’t told me your name yet,” Jack said with a put-out expression that made John want to do violent things.
“I’ll do you one better,” Rodney grinned his ‘I‘m so smart’ grin. “We’ll always have 1989.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” Jack called as Rodney hustled them away.
--------
“What the hell was that?” John asked as soon as they were out the door.
“Did you sleep with him? Jeannie asked.
Rodney ignored them both as his cell rang. “I knew life wasn’t fair and that just proved it, you‘re still ridiculously attractive. At least I can console myself with the fact that your lines are still cheesy,” was the first thing that Rodney said when he answered.
“Did you give him your number?” Jeannie hissed.
Rodney batted her question away with the motion of a hand. “So, I did everything right? Good. No, I think your PA might poison my coffee if I visited…oh? In that case, I’d just recruit him. No, you can’t have a threesome. Why do I even try? You’re such a slut,” Rodney ended without bite, which practically translated into affection.
“Meredith Rodney McKay!”
“Seriously, McKay, what the hell?”
Rodney simply grinned and got in the car.
“You badger him, I’ll run a search?” John offered.
“I could just go back in and talk to him myself,” she suggested, turning as if to do exactly that.
John looked torn for a moment before nodding. “You forgot your wallet. It happens.”
Jeannie grinned deviously.
--------
Rodney shook his head and settled into his seat. “I should leave those two,” he muttered as he pressed the dial button on his phone. “You were gone by the time those two went back in, right?”
Jack chuckled. “Of course we were. The Doctor started an incident. The sommelier was using mind control on some of the patrons, and we had to chase after him as soon as you walked out.”
“And there’s no trace of you anywhere?”
“Not in any files your Col. Sheppard is cleared for.”
“Good.”
“Aww…am I your dirty little secret? I feel so naughty.”
“Yes, you like it, and let’s keep it that way. It’s much more fun to watch Jeannie and John go crazy over it.”
“You are so evil. It’s a real turn on.”
“Will you stop trying to use me to make your teaboy jealous? He will kill me one of these days and then where will we be? The world will be deprived of my genius, an irrevocable loss.”
They chuckled. Rodney watched as his peeved and pouting companions made their way back up the street.
“Goodbye, Jack.”
“Take care of yourself, Meredith.”
