“Thanks, Alfred.”
Alfred Pennyworth smiled as the sprawled young men swarmed about his tray to snatch a cuppa before starting to sip religiously.
“Master Tim?” Alfred offered him his usual hot chocolate and ignored the faces the young boy was making at the pleasure his comrades derived from tea.
“Sir? Miss Tyler?” he called as he approached the furiously working duo.
“Don’t tell my mum I said so--‘cause she’ll kill me--but you make the best cuppa, Alfred. S‘absolutely brilliant.” Rose Tyler graced him with a wide and vibrant smile as she savored the hot liquid.
Miraculously, that brought the Batman out of his intense concentration. Enough that he accepted the beverage and had the courtesy to unmask and send Alfred a thankful glance.
Alfred restrained the indecorous urge to shake his head in exasperation as the two immediately started talking about work.
“The tech is definitely from Sanjil--”
“And that means?”
“Means that, if he can work it, it’s a real threat in Freeze’s hands. It’ll do more than make this a white Christmas, it’ll freeze the city in a snap. It’s purpose is for global climate. Packs a real punch. Only savin’ grace s’that he’ll have a hell of a job getting through all the security.”
It immediately became a heated discussion about tactics and plans.
When Master Bruce had told him about the British unit from Torchwood that had shown up to deal with aliens he had never expected that his territorial charge would actually accept their help. Then again, he was no fool and the team--which consisted of Miss Tyler, Mr. Smith, Mr. Simmonds and a Mr. Thomas who was running interference with the bureaucrats--had knowledge and resources that were sorely needed.
But he'd never expected the two groups to get along so well.
Master Timothy probably enjoyed being considered a peer by the Torchwood unit and, surprisingly, the group, despite their comparative youth, was well trained, confident and not cowed by Master Bruce's dark, ominous silences.
Even more astonishing, Master Bruce not only accepted their help, he treated them with some measure of respect.
Alfred was also not one to miss the flirtatious exchanges that took place between his employer and Miss Tyler. He would not have put any weight on the action had it not continued, even after the masks and pretenses had been done away with.
Master Bruce was not one to flirt outside of the persona that he presented to the public.
From what he'd seen Miss Tyler was an attractive, intelligent and capable young woman. Strength had always attracted the men of the Wayne family and the last scion was no exception.
The problems with Master Bruce's choices usually were that the women had differing morals, had no way to cope with a secret identity, or a depressing tendency to...expire. Conveniently, Miss Tyler seemed to have the same code of honour, secrets of her own and a baffling tendency to beat the odds.
There were possibilities.
"Don't even think it, Chief."
"Mr. Smith?" he questioned.
Mickey Smith shook his head. "Rose had 'er heart broken. Hasn't seriously considered movin' on even though 's been years and her mum will thank you--means, she won't kill you--if you don't try and set up 'er baby girl with another brooding hero with a bit of a self-destructive streak. Truthfully, I won't thank 'ya either. Don't much like this thing where Rose is some kind of Persephone used to comfort or appease some miserable git in 'is cave. What? I read," Mickey added with a hint of heat at what he perceived to be surprise on part of his listener.
"I would not think of meddling, Mr. Smith. But if they come to that juncture of their own volition who are we to thwart or deny them?" Alfred questioned with mild rebuke.
Mickey sighed. "At least Jackie would get pretty grandkids."
Alfred said nothing though the look in his eyes said he agreed. Perhaps he should speak with Jacqueline Tyler? The woman wanted grandchildren and he rather fancied a large and boisterous group of Wayne heirs to fill the manor's halls.
Though, if they were destined to take after their parents perhaps one would suffice.

LOL!
That's right, Alfred, get Jackie onside, that's a wise man.

I really love this series of drabbles. The idea that the Peteverse is also the DC/Nolanverse/Toonverse is a unique and completely believable idea. And though I never thought of putting Bruce/Rose together they actually fit rather well together and Micky is right their children would be lovely.
I know you wrote a later drabble where Peter Petrelli shows up giving Rose a possible way back to her home universe but as much of a fan as I am of the Doctor/Rose (or Rose/Jack, or Rose/Doctor/Jack) dynamic. I actully hope you write a drabble where she choses to stay in the Peteverse just this once. And that she and Bruce hook up and fight aliens together.
In any case, I love this series and I hope you continue to write more.
