“You’re not fooling anyone,” a lone blond man spoke to an empty room as he gazed out at the view the window afforded him.
“Fooled just about everyone, me,” in contrast to the cultured, silk accent of the blond this disembodied voice was low, dark and edged with derision.
“You’ve learned from the best, no doubt, and because of that I must wonder what you’re doing here. I would have thought you‘d have taken the opportunity to disappear.” The only visible being gave the impression of being unconcerned and more than a little bored.
“Decades shut up in the dark hole must’ve affected your sense of humor, except you never really had one, did you? And I had to see for myself. Free after decades and what do you do? Snap up another naïve disciple to help you in your psychotic little schemes. You never change.”
The blond chuckled. “Is that concern I hear, Claude? Do I sense some paternal worry for our little empath?”
“Don’t have those kinds of feelings left, do I? You and your puppets took that and more from us.”
A door opened then shut, propelled by unseen hands.
