drabble: house in haunted woods

Title: house in haunted woods

Summary: Rodney blames John.

"THIS ISN'T HOW I PICTURED MY VACATION!" Rodney shouts between terrified gasps for breath.

"Less shouting, more running!" is John's answer as he hustles Rodney towards their cabin.

"Your fault," Rodney hisses as he's shoved through the cabin door.

"SALT!" Sam shouts as he barrels past them, towards the kitchen.

"Are we having a fucking barbeque?!" Rodney bitches hysterically as he starts securing the windows.

Dean dives past the threshold and John slams the door, drives the deadbolt home. The door shudders against some unseen force, but Sam's there, laying down a line of white salt in front of the door, Dean's already started on the windows.

"Salt?" Rodney says with skepticism. John can't help but silently agree.

"Spirits can't cross lines of salt," Sam mutters as he completes his task.

The shuddering has stopped, so maybe there's some truth to the flimsy explanation.

Still, John isn't letting go of his sidearm anytime soon.

"Spirits," Rodney breathes with an edge of hysteria. John's a little bit afraid his scientist has been broken.

"No big," Dean grins. "We'll salt and burn the son of a bitch and Casper's one exorcised ghostie."

Haunted woods, spirits, the supernatural, wannabe ghostbusters and bad science. He'd left Atlantis why?

"I hate you so much," Rodney mutters as he glares at John, the architect of their vacation.

John, still looking rather stunned, nods. "I hate me too, buddy."
