a couple of the HN/FoB rewrites I've seen don't change things as much as I feel they should with with Rose in the mix.
I know! I read it and then it's like "Martha said that" "Martha did that" "That dialogue is from the script. Word for word." And really, it gets old and annoying. Which is why I tried to get more of Smith's thoughts on Rose and not Rose's take on what was happening. I mean, what would this schoolteacher from 1913 think of someone like Rose who breaks normal conventions?
but a lot of it would have to change just because it's Rose,
[nods in agreement]
Which is why I didn't want Rose flashing the screwdriver around and telling him to "name it". I think she'd try and appeal to their adventures, his dreams. Then, if that fails, a trip to the TARDIS!
and the Doctor's feelings towards Rose.
Well...it isn't really the Doctor yeah? John Smith is just an average man and Joan is a normal woman. I definitely think that John would be simultaneously drawn and repelled by Rose. Drawn to her because there's a part of the Doctor in him that loves Rose and repelled because she's so alien, so removed from normal stuff. She's a lot like the Doctor whom John Smith, in my opinion, was very much afraid of.

Nice to see a story that handles that.
[blushes]
Thank you!
