“So, you guys do this a lot?” Xander asked.
Jack shrugged nonchalantly. “It’s happened to me once or twice. 1969. Good times.”
“Story of my very long, life,” The Doctor answered cheerfully. “Backwards, forwards, loop-de-loop, inside out, circular, parallel; you name it I’ve probably done it.”
Jack and Xander stared.
“Somehow, that’s not reassuring,” Xander muttered. “And it doesn’t solve our problem.”
“Carter’ll figure it out,” Jack said with complete faith.
“I think, colonel, that my companions would have a higher chance of rescuing us,” the Doctor informed them smugly.
Xander sat up. “No way! My Wills will just make with the mojo and save us first!”
Jack made as if to argue further but stopped. “You’re right, Doc. Time travel’s your thing. They’ll get here first and then you can drop us off with our people--all fixed.”
Xander caught on. “Yeah! You’re the super advanced alien, just re-age us and pop us back to the 21st century.”
It dawned on the Doctor. It was the wrong century and they were the wrong age. They all looked no older than fifteen. Not the ideal way to be found by one’s companions if one wished to avoid being teased.
“Oh, dear.”
