"How may I serve, my master?"
Sir Integra Hellsing lit her usual cigar as she perused a file, unconcerned with the appearance of her servant.
"There are no missions tonight, Alucard."
Whatever semblance of verve and life had animated the vampire-king fled, showing him for what he was, a preternatural being. Not flesh and blood, frail and mortal, but power and magic, enduring and immortal.
"I was not aware that all threats to your Crown been neutralized," Alucard sneered.
"Do not mock me, vampire!" Integra warned.
"I would not dare, my master."
Integra ignored the insolence of her servant. "I have ordered a respite for the soldiers because of the holiday. So far, our services have not been called for."
"The holiday?" Alucard questioned with disgust. "Humans," he spat with disdain.
"It is what they fight for. I would not expect you to understand."
Alucard regarded her with a measure of fond amusement.
"As you say, my master."
